Power of Personal Coaching

Published 5 months ago • 2 min read

Hi Reader

Years ago, I was busy competing in speech contests.

I think it was the first time I crossed three levels.

Even though, I achieved that milestone, I hit a roadblock: Many people gave me critical (read that.. negative) feedback about my enunciation.

No surprises. I was a non-native speaker who is competing with native speakers. Of course, I had an accent.

I did not have much time. The 4th level of contests was in a few weeks. I had to get this straight. I could not turn to my mentor because even he was participating in the contest!

I turned to the universal mentor: Google.

I searched for some voice coaches, and booked a sample consultation call with one of the experts. I agreed to take an hour of paid coaching.

She gave me insights into some specific mistakes. And she taught me few techniques to correct the way I was producing sound.

It boosted my confidence like crazy. And in that contest, I placed among the top 3 speakers in the entire new england area.

I could have spent years doing something incorrectly but when I got the right coach.. it only took a few minutes to correct it. That's when I realized the power of a coach.

And I started coaching people to help them get tangible and solid results.

My coaching method is simple. And I'll share it secret right here.

1) I take the 4-RE framework, ask specific questions. This is to understand their current situation.

2) I guide my folks through the 4RE framework and manage the duration in each stages. If I feel that they don't need much work in any stage, I do the minimal work needed and move onto the next stage. You can see an example of 4RE process in action here.

For example, if they are pretty good in delivering the speech, then I'll not spend much time in rehearse stage. I'll focus in fine tuning the material (rewrite stage).

3) Hold them accountable till the D-day arrives.

4) Discuss learnings from the experience, and use that to identify next growth areas.

Let me ask you this.

That's it. Seriously.

If you implemented what I showed you in 4RE framework, do you think you'll achieve your goals with public speaking?

Now let me take this one step further.

If I personally coach you and implement the 4RE framework for you, do you think you'll achieve your goals with public speaking?

Take some time...

.

.

.

If you answered yes, then, I have some good news for you.

We might be able to work together and I can be your coach.

Please reply if you are interested in applying for my personal coaching.

BUT....There are some ground rules.

1) Life is busy right now. So the personal coaching is based on selection. Just to make sure we are a right fit.
2) Once you reply, I'll send an email with some simple questions.
3) Please fill the answers and reply back.
4) If the answers are not clear, I'll reach out to clarify the answers.

Thanks for being awesome.

Hi Reader How are you doing? So the largest democracy in the world started voting, and I did cast my vote. To be honest, in my 20s I never really bothered. I felt my vote would not matter in the larger scheme of things. I know I was wrong. So I did exercise my vote. That's a right. And you'll be wrong if you don't exercise it. Now, what about the rights you earn as you grow in life? Whoever you have become: an educator, a teacher, a salesperson, a lawyer, a doctor, an engineer, a business...

Hi Reader Jeff Bezos once said that he often gets asked what's going to change in the next ten years. And it makes sense that people ask him as he built Amazon, one of the most successful companies on planet Earth. He also says that people don't ask the slight variant of the question which is more important. Before I reveal what Jeff said, we are all somehow fascinated or feared by change. The reality is change is the only constant. But here's the thing. We don't know what we don't know about...

Hi Reader Today I'm going to share a fun interview I had with my coaching client. I was watching it again while editing the interview video (sorry, it's not HD video because of a setting I did not do in Zoom. I'm still learning!). But the discussion we had was fascinating. I did almost no editing to what Sandeep was saying! (hope you read between lines that I was the one deviating and I had to cut those parts out!) Everything he said was pure value. Sandeep is a veteran in Learning and...
