What's the Story You Want to Tell?

Published 19 days ago • 2 min read

Hi Reader

How are you doing?

So the largest democracy in the world started voting, and I did cast my vote. To be honest, in my 20s I never really bothered. I felt my vote would not matter in the larger scheme of things. I know I was wrong.

So I did exercise my vote.

That's a right. And you'll be wrong if you don't exercise it.

Now, what about the rights you earn as you grow in life?

Whoever you have become: an educator, a teacher, a salesperson, a lawyer, a doctor, an engineer, a business person, a homemaker, or whatever you do for a living, have you earned the experience that'll benefit others?

If yes, then by all means you are responsible for sharing it with the world.

That's a right. And you'll be wrong if you don't exercise it.

The question is:

What's the story you want to tell?

Start with the stories you tell every day to your friends, family, and anyone who comes to you for solutions.

Start noting them down, and journal them. You never know when it will become useful.

Then, there are some ways to create some meaning out of it. (This comes next).

You can write books and publish them. Or if you like to use your voice in the literal sense, go ahead and speak about the topic to people who ever will listen to you.

Again, don't complicate this.

Having something worthy to say is important. Then, find folks to whom this will be relevant. Once you start doing something small, new ideas will kick in. When you keep things simple, things will fall into place.

And...I have an announcement (and this was the reason I was under a rock in March)

Drum rolls, please.

My latest book "Perfect Promotion" is coming soon in 2024. ARC (Advanced reader copy) is available.

Below is the description of the book.

Can a great employee working for a greedy manager ever dream about getting a promotion?

Like every middle-class Indian, getting a software job was a dream come true for Arjun. More so as he had a secret wish he had promised to fulfill. Arjun works as a software consultant with a leading IT services company Skywalk Software, but his heart always wanted a little more.

Arjun's dreams of a promotion and a chance to work in the US were shattered, but just when he thought all hope was lost, an opportunity arose. However, his journey is far from smooth sailing. His bosses would neither recognize his performance nor talk about his promotion.

When Dhruv, the powerful unit manager, comes for a client visit to the US, Arjun gets a one-on-one meeting with him. That meeting changes everything.

Written in a witty and entertaining tone, this gripping story of determination, family, and self-discovery will leave you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Will Arjun get his perfect promotion?

Hi Reader Jeff Bezos once said that he often gets asked what's going to change in the next ten years. And it makes sense that people ask him as he built Amazon, one of the most successful companies on planet Earth. He also says that people don't ask the slight variant of the question which is more important. Before I reveal what Jeff said, we are all somehow fascinated or feared by change. The reality is change is the only constant. But here's the thing. We don't know what we don't know about...

Hi Reader Today I'm going to share a fun interview I had with my coaching client. I was watching it again while editing the interview video (sorry, it's not HD video because of a setting I did not do in Zoom. I'm still learning!). But the discussion we had was fascinating. I did almost no editing to what Sandeep was saying! (hope you read between lines that I was the one deviating and I had to cut those parts out!) Everything he said was pure value. Sandeep is a veteran in Learning and...

Hi Reader How are you doing today? Today, I want to talk to you about something transformative – the power of Systems. Currently, it's one of the things I've been actively focussing in all areas of my life. Systems are all around us. We all are part of it - whether we like it or not. Think about it. Every month, we pay bills on the same date. We are part of someone's system. Now, why on earth we would not use it for our life? Something to think about. Since we have started the year, I'll talk...
