2024 is around the corner.

Hi Reader

I'm grateful to have you in my world in 2023 and thank you for allowing me to be part of your world.

If my work provided any value, I'm truly excited, and I'm cheering for you from here!

You'd probably know this but it's worth saying that public speaking is not an option but a necessity. Jim Rohn (an erstwhile icon in personal development space) told beautifully that you'll get a living when you learn to speak, but you'll get to be successful, when you learn to speak well.

My own journey concerning public speaking began when I was in the third grade. It was long time ago but I say this story for a reason.

My teacher announced a speech contest. Not knowing what it is, I enrolled myself. My sister wrote me a speech. I prepared for the contest.

The D-day arrived. I was called on the stage. I held the microphone and when I saw the entire audience looking at me, my hands started shivering. My legs started shaking and I forgot the speech. It did not end there.

I cursed myself with some bad words, and that got amplified in the microphone!

EPIC bomb.

The fact was....I had FEARS. I was really scared to face hundreds of people from the stage and I was not trained either.

I wanted to overcome this fear. But I never took any real action.

Isn't it interesting... we are stuck in a past incident for so long inspite of knowing that we should do something about it?

As time passed, I graduated and got a job. Only after I started my career did I realize the importance of speaking and communication.

I started the journey through a public speaking forum but for a few years, I struggled with my discouraging self-talk, ego and anxiety.

Then, I got an opportunity to participate in a speech contest. And I got excited about this contest, and went all in.

I gave the best speech of my life (according to me). I waited to be declared a winner but didn’t even place in the top three. And this happened more than once. Oops!

My ego hurt, my confidence hurt and my belief hurt.

So I knew I needed to take steps to overcome this situation and the first step I took was to be coachable.

I consumed books and courses, observed great speakers and reached out for help.

The one person who changed my perception of public speaking was Jerry Aiyathurai, an amazing speaker and a genuine human being who also became a fantastic mentor to me.

After meeting him, it was clear that I knew nothing about this craft. He taught me public speaking concepts in a SIMPLE to understand and EASY to implement manner.

I started competing contests in the US. I lost many initially. Slowly, I started winning. The highlight was when I placed among top 3 speakers in New England area in USA (CT, Part of NY, RI, etc).

It busted many myths like, "What will people think?", "Will people understand my accent", "Do I have the confidence to compete with polished native speakers?"

Yes, the world is not perfect. There were some results that were clearly not favourable.

Even after competing in contests in India and ending up in top 3 speakers, the urge to chase trophies stopped and the urge to make a difference started.

I realised that this skill of public speaking (read that.. speaking well) is transferable if it's made simple to understand, and easy to implement.

It was more exciting to help others learn this invaluable skill. And the knowledge I gained from my mentor and my experience helped me to go all in after this mission.

I dedicated (and still am) a good part of my life behind this mission. All my books/programs follow the simple to understand, and easy to implement method.

While I'm proud of all my works, there's ONE thing that I can't wait to share.

I spent countless hours thinking about a framework that can fear-proof any speaking situation. Not just fear-proof but one that helps you give an amazing presentation.

I'm very proud of this framework because this is the first thing that comes to my mind when I prepare for a speech myself or even currently use to guide my coaching clients.

This framework applies to any speaking opportunity. If you are going to be on a real stage or a virtual stage, this is going to be it!

I'll be sharing more about it in the next email. Till then, stay tuned.

Hi Reader How are you doing? So the largest democracy in the world started voting, and I did cast my vote. To be honest, in my 20s I never really bothered. I felt my vote would not matter in the larger scheme of things. I know I was wrong. So I did exercise my vote. That's a right. And you'll be wrong if you don't exercise it. Now, what about the rights you earn as you grow in life? Whoever you have become: an educator, a teacher, a salesperson, a lawyer, a doctor, an engineer, a business...

Hi Reader Jeff Bezos once said that he often gets asked what's going to change in the next ten years. And it makes sense that people ask him as he built Amazon, one of the most successful companies on planet Earth. He also says that people don't ask the slight variant of the question which is more important. Before I reveal what Jeff said, we are all somehow fascinated or feared by change. The reality is change is the only constant. But here's the thing. We don't know what we don't know about...

Hi Reader Today I'm going to share a fun interview I had with my coaching client. I was watching it again while editing the interview video (sorry, it's not HD video because of a setting I did not do in Zoom. I'm still learning!). But the discussion we had was fascinating. I did almost no editing to what Sandeep was saying! (hope you read between lines that I was the one deviating and I had to cut those parts out!) Everything he said was pure value. Sandeep is a veteran in Learning and...
